L’Internationale des fédérations anarchistes salue la lutte des
anarchistes en Russie et en ex-URSS, qui organisent des manifestations
anti-G8 dans ce qu’il faut appeler un Etat policier. Le régime russe a
montré sa détermination à empecher toute opposition à l’hégémonie du
capitalisme mondial en criminalisant toute tentative d’organiser des
manifestations lors du sommet du G8. Tandis que les huit chefs d’Etat
des pays les plus puissants du monde discutent de comment promouvoir le
“libre échange”, on empeche les militants anti-mondialisation de se
rendre librement en Russie et près de Saint-Pétersbourg.

Cependant, nous ne laisserons pas cette répression d’Etat empecher notre
lutte pour un monde meilleur. Le capitalisme et l’Etat ne se trouvent
pas que dans les G8. Nous pouvons faire beaucoup dans nos propres pays
et dans nos propres villes. Nous appelons à organiser des actions de
soutien partout dans le monde, comme l’a fait le Réseau contre le G8, en
particulier le 14 juillet, Journée internationale d’action. Nous devons
aussi etre prets à organiser une solidarité immédiate et efficace au cas
où la répression policière s’abattrait sur les militants à
Saint-Pétersbourg.

The International of Anarchist Federations salutes the struggle of anarchists in Russia and the ex-USSR to organise anti-G8 protests in what is a police state. The Russian regime has shown that it is determined to prevent any challenge to the dominance of global capitalism by criminalising any attempt to organise protests at the G8 summit. While the eight heads of the most powerful states in the world discuss how to promote ‘free trade’, anti-globalisation protesters are being prevented from moving freely into Russia and around Petersburg itself.

However, we will not let this state repression stop our fight for a better world. Capitalism and the State are not just found at G8 summits. There is much we can all do in our own countries and communities. We call on people to organise supporting actions all over the world, as requested by the Network against the G8, in particular on the Global Day of Action on July 14th. We must also be prepared to offer immediate and effective solidarity in case of police repression to those in Petersburg.
